ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing Exam
Structure of the exam
The examination will test candidates' ability to apply testing principles to practical settings, as defined in the syllabus.
To verify that candidates have made the transition in thinking from problem solving at Foundation level to that required at Practitioner level, the Intermediate examination uses scenario based questions structured in multiple choice format.
The examination is a one hour scenario based multiple choice. The time allowed is 1 hour, and the pass mark is 60%.
Candidates must pass the Intermediate examination in order to sit either of the Practitioner examinations.
Entry Requirements
The entry criteria for candidates taking the Intermediate examination are as follows:
Candidates must hold the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing AND either:
- have at least 18 months experience in software testing or
- have completed an ISEB accredited training course for the Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing
How do I book my ISEB Intermediate exam?

The ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis syllabus concentrates on testing the candidate's ability to analyse requirements, design test cases and create test scripts.
It is a two hour, closed book, written examination, with a choice of four out of six questions. The pass mark is 60% (distinction 80%).
The entry requirements for candidates taking the exam for ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis are as follows:
Candidates must hold the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing, the ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing AND either
- have at least 18 months experience in software testing or
- have completed an ISEB accredited training course for the Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis.

The ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Test Management syllabus focuses on the skills, tools and techniques required in order to manage the test effort successfully.
